Smart Centres Place Bus Terminal Officially Opens!

I am proud to announce that Smart Centres Place bus terminal has officially opened in the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) as of November 3rd!

This terminal will act as the central transit hub in the VMC, servicing York Regional Transit (YRT) buses and providing residents and visitors with a reliable, effective, and world-class public transportation experience and several connections to destinations throughout the GTA and beyond.

Construction began in January 2017, and the opening of Smart Centres Place terminal marks a major milestone in the development of the VMC, bringing it one step closer to becoming a world-class and fully functioning downtown where residents and visitors can live, work, and play.

Some features of the new terminal include:

  • Nine bus bays
  • Space for a future retail business
  • Seating area with tables and chairs
  • Washrooms
  • Adjacent pay parking lots
  • Passenger pick-up and drop-off area
  • A fully accessible underground pedestrian connection to the TTC’s Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station

When travelling above ground, the TTC subway and Viva/Zum Rapidway along Highway 7 are only steps away, providing even more connections to numerous destinations. At this time, the following bus routes are operating out of Smart Centres Place terminal:

  • 10 – Woodbridge
  • 20 – Jane
  • 26 – Maple

For those who plan on driving to Smart Centres Place terminal before boarding one of the the many buses that are serviced from here, there is ample parking available. Two pay-parking lots are located adjacent to the site at the northeast and southeast corners of Millwood Avenue and Apple Mill Road. Commuter parking facilities are also available at the two subways stations to the south at Highway 407 Station and Pioneer Village Station.

I am very pleased with how far the VMC has come, and this project in particular will contribute greatly to the overall functionality and accessibility of the VMC. Some additional work will take place on the terminal in Spring of 2020, but this will not impact regular service and operations.

I welcome Smart Centres Place terminal to the VMC and I am confident it will serve residents and visitors very well for years to come!!
