The City of Vaughan is made up of people from many different backgrounds. From entrepreneurs and philanthropists to business leaders and volunteers – they each bring something special and encompass the best of Canadian citizenship. The Order of Vaughan was created to celebrate residents and the positive impact they have made on the community. It is the highest civic honour bestowed by the City to acknowledge those who have been influential in city-building and contributed to Vaughan’s success. It was established in 2016 during Vaughan’s 25th anniversary year to recognize outstanding achievement and dedication to the community. In tribute of the City’s milestone, 25 individuals were invested with the Order last year. The award recognizes individuals who have made a significant and enduring contribution to the City of Vaughan through their endeavors in one or more of the following categories:

Who is eligible?
To be eligible to be considered for the Order of Vaughan, a nominee must be:
- A resident or former long-term resident of the City of Vaughan
- A living person at the time of nomination
Nominations will not be accepted for staff currently employed by the City of Vaughan, or for current elected public office holders at the federal, provincial or municipal level. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
How do I nominate?
To nominate a deserving individual, you must complete a nomination form available online, at City Hall, or at any of our community centres and public libraries. Any supporting documents must be included with the form at the time of submission, and should speak to the character and accomplishments of the nominee.
What is the deadline for nominations?
The deadline to submit nominations for the 2017 Order of Vaughan is June 15, 2017. Nominations can be submitted electronically or in hard copy. For more details, please see the nomination form.
